Benefits of Yoga
The word 'yoga' means 'union' in Sanskrit. Yoga is a practice that originated in ancient India and is directed towards the union of the self with the universal through a lifestyle that comprises of a system of exercises, diet and philosophy. The benefits of yoga are appreciated across the world, so much so that yoga exercises have become very popular in European and American cultures. However, in the West, Yoga is more or less limited to the hatha yoga or the physical exercises. The benefits of yoga reach out beyond our physical wellbeing only and also help us in achieving mental peace, improving our concentration, calming our minds and helping build good relationships.
