About Yoga
Yoga is a type of traditional disciplines centering around the mind and the body that originated from India. The word originated from Sanskrit word and is associated with age old meditative practices of Buddhism and Hinduism. In fact, not only in this two religion, all the religion that originated from India are more or less associated with yoga.
History of Yoga
Though yoga is very popular today, but yoga is nearly 3000 years old. The word "Yoga": means unite, and the poses and postures concentrates on unification of spirit, body and the mind. Several seals found in the Indus valley contained encrypted pictures of various positions of yoga. In fact, surprisingly, in many religious texts the connotation of yoga are found and details of different types of positions are explained in ancient language. Thus, some of the important and ancient textual sources of yoga are Upanishads, Bhagvad Gita, Yoga Sutra of Patanjali. Thus, you will find there are many Gods of Indian origin who sits in numerous yoga poses. Yoga is not limited to just physical exercise only. It van be a lifestyle also -a disciplined lifestyle, where the mind, body and the spirit works in proper synchronization with each other and keeps the body free from pain and sufferings. The main aim of yoga lifestyle is to attain spirituality.
