Imagine the pleasure as the therapist takes your feet in his hands and gently starts pressing and massaging key points on the soles of your feet, and you feel the day’s stress draining away from you. That’s reflexology for you. It is a complementary therapy which works on your hands and feet to help and heal congestion in other ‘related’ parts of the body. Reflexology is a gentle therapy used to help restore and maintain your body’s natural equilibrium.

Most of us often neglect the health of our limbs even though they are used extensively. We constantly use our hands for every kind of work, and we are on our feet moving, standing, making them tired in the end. We often lose our posture, and our feet its natural shape as wear shoes that are either too high, tight, or pointed. A reflexology massage session aids in returning the normal balance of the human body apart from relaxing the limbs. This is no way related to any sort of medical treatment. You should begin to experience a positive difference after one or two treatments. Most people experience a feeling of relaxation and wellbeing. You should wear loose comfortable clothes that are unrestricting as only your shoes and socks will be removed. Reflexology should be avoided for at least one hour after meals. As with most massage therapies you should drink plenty of water after treatment. You might get feelings of nausea, tearfulness or lethargy after a session. Therapists say this is part of the healing process. It is important that you report any of these feelings to your reflexology therapist so that he or she can adopt your treatment plan accordingly. When properly practiced, reflexology gives a feeling of well-being and relaxation as it stimulates the body to help heal itself.

Why you should try this therapy? Simply because studies have shown that besides improving emotional state, regular treatments with reflexology can increase self-esteem, confidence; and improve the ability to stay motivated, and concentration.
