Prom party is the integral and the iconic experience that a high school student looks forward to. A prom party is considered complete when the invitees arrive in stretch limos and the party is decorated with live bands, fancy ballrooms, prom kings, prom queens and last but not the least dresses that will remind us of our favorite movie stars. However if we look back, we will find that prom parties were not always so inclusive and elaborative shows, as we see it today.

Different scholars have different ideas about the origin of prom night or prom party. One of the well-accepted notion is that the concept of prom took birth from balls organized by the upper class people of the society. Girls and women used to arrive in these balls wearing white dresses. After their arrival to the ball they were escorted to a very big hall where they were officially introduced to social dating. The invitations to these parties were limited and only a group of lucky people were invited. For young people, this ball was just the grand beginning of participating any important events.

When the concept got modified and entered into the yearbooks of high schools, dance as the night time served that similar aim as happened in débutante ball. To certain extent, we can say that prom parties of early times is equal to adult event for the teenagers for the first time in their life.

The idea of covering prom night events occurred in the beginning of 1930 and though the concept got modified a bit it is still continuing. In the beginning of 1900's the prom nights were restricted to simple and regular tea dance, where the seniors of the high school wore their best dress. By early mid 1920's and the end of 1930's the concept was expanded a more. From now on yearly class banquet were organized and students were allowed to wear party clothes and they danced with their respective partners afterwards.

Planning for prom party is fun and enjoying. While planning for prom, theme and decoration is very important. Theses things are required planning with adequate times on hand as you need to buy and collect different decorative accessories and materials. Decorations and theme must have a perfect balance and they must be treated as if they are two sides of a coin.

You can start your decorations with lighting. Lighting helps a lot in creating the romantic mood for the prom party. They can also make the dance floor dramatic. Add some fresh flowers and if possible scatter some petals of rose in tables and other parts of the room. You can also scatter rose petals on the flower bouquets.
