Whitening of Teeth
Whitening of Teeth is a regular practice today. Stains can be removed from the teeth through a session with the dentist. Whitening of Teeth can also be done at home through home made remedies. Dark stains, however , which have formed through the use of antibiotics are a bit more difficult to whiten.
Whitening of teeth is most commonly done through bleaching. Through this process, stained, discolored, and darkened teeth are whitened. The bleaching procedure can be done by a dentist or it can be done at home. There are basically two types of stains which form on the teeth such as:
- Intrinsic Stains: These stains are formed from within the tooth and cannot be whitened by flossing and brushing. Excessive use of drugs may lead to Intrinsic Staining.
- Extrinsic Stains: Extrinsic Stains are formed on the surface of the tooth. Examples of extrinsic stains include stains inflicted by smoking, coffee and tea intake and chewing of tobacco. A dentist can effectively remove such stains. These types of stains can also be minimized by regular oral care and brushing.
