Preventing Bad Breath |

Preventing bad breath does not take too much of effort. There are various ways through which one can prevent bad breath. A regular brush everyday is not always enough to prevent foul smell from the mouth. It is necessary that a healthy lifestyle and healthy food intake be regularized to prevent this. After an overnight sleep, some food particle residue still clings on to
our mouth. It is therefore necessary that one brushes after dinner and before bedtime. This considerably reduces bad breath the next morning.
Bad Breath often becomes prevalent with poor oral care. Food particles decay in our mouth and this leads to formation of bacteria and bad smell. Food particles cling not only in the nooks and corners of the teeth but also in our tongues. It is therefore necessary to brush the tongue properly as well. Along with this, flossing of the teeth is equally important.
The tongue in our mouth is like a carpet full of perforations and filaments which trap food particles and these trapped food particles lead to the formation of bacteria. Dentists all over the world emphasize on the fact that cleaning of the tongue is equally important in oral care. A tongue cleaner is very handy and rigorously cleans the surface of the tongue which is a good step in preventing bad breath.
A Mouthwash is very important to ward off foul oral smell. But it does not really clean the mouth as such. It may be considered as a temporary step to remove foul smell, but the mouth needs to be rigorously cleaned to prevent the onset of foul smell.
It has been proved that saliva plays an important role in the formation of foul smell. A dry mouth for example is more prone to bad smell than a mouth which is not dry. It is therefore necessary to keep the mouth lubricated. This is evident from the fact that foul smell is most prevalent in the morning. This is because the production of saliva is slow during the period when we sleep. Water intake should be maximized to salivate the mouth and flush off the residual bacteria that stay in the mouth. Dehydration may lead to serious odor formation in the mouth.
Chewing gums is an innovative way to ward off foul smell. Through gum chewing, saliva production accelerates and the antiseptics and enzymes present in saliva effectively kill the bacteria that form bad breath. Cinnamon has been proved to have properties which kill odor-forming bacteria. The use of cinnamon is therefore an effective way to ward of bad breath.
