Visceral Manipulation
Visceral Manipulation can be described as an ‘osteopathic manipulative medicine’ (OMM). The internal organs of the body, especially, that of stomach is worked upon to treat ‘somatic dysfunction’. It helps in the free mobility of the organs as well as also releases the tension of the organs. The therapy is also known as Liquid Massage.
Today, Visceral manipulation therapy is practiced around the world. However, the therapy first began in Tibet and China, about 200 years ago. Later, Jean-Pierre Barrall, a French osteopath improved the treatment and then it became globally famous. In fact, it was Barrall who first introduced the therapy around 1985 in the United States of America.
A gentle ‘hands-on’ Visceral Manipulation therapy works wonders for people suffering from different body aches. While performing the touch therapy, the practitioner massages the deep tissues of the body, especially the organs of the abdomen and its joining tissues. This enables the heart, liver, kidney and intestine to gently release the tension and stress. The massage process also allows the easy movement of the organs.
