History of Rolfing:


Rolfing owes its origin from its founder Dr. Ida P. Rolf. Dr. Rolf spent her whole life researching about the different forms of alternative healing which includes chiropractics, homeopathy, osteopathy, and yoga. She came out with the notion that proper alignment, physiologic function and anatomical structure are interrelated forms basis of a number of alternative healing methods. Dr. Rolf’s lifelong research shows that structural imbalances affects the body's pervasive network of soft tissues, like fascia, muscles, tendons and ligaments, so as to create compensations throughout the body structure.

Rolfing Procedure:


Rolfing aims at attaining systematical balance and optimization of the structure and function of the entire body over the course of ten Rolfing sessions. Each Rolfing session focuses on freeing holdings trapped in a particular region of the body. A practitioner also has to ensure that the transformational process is evolved in a comfortable and harmonious manner.
  • Rolfing Sessions 1-3 : The first Rolfing session is aimed at enhancing the quality of breath with work on the ribcage arms, and diaphragm. Gradually, other regions of the body like, hamstrings, upper leg, neck and spine are opened. The second Rolfing session gives the body a stable foundation. This is done by balancing the foot and muscles of the lower leg.
  • Rolfing Sessions 4-7 : Sessions 4-7 concentrates upon the terrain found between the bottom of the pelvis, top of the head and the deep tissue of the legs.
  • Session 8-10 : in sessions 8-10, an overall sense of balance and integration is achieved.
