Qigong

The word Qigong means a combination of two ideas. The word “Qi” (which means air) and “gong” (which means the skill of self-discipline and achievement) combines to form Qigong. Qigong is practiced through meditation sessions, relaxation therapy, mind-body integration, physical movement, and deep breathing exercises. With regular practice of Qigong, you are likely to develop an awareness of qi sensations in your body.

Qigong Massage Procedure

Qigong massage produces a relaxing and stimulating effect allowing your organs to detoxify. Your body also gets fresh energy through your meridians. Qigong massage is done by stimulating acupuncture points along the major organ meridians.
  • Qigong Massage on the Face

For Qigong massage on the face, you need to work on certain important points. The knuckles on your thumbs have to be used for this. Your hands should be kept in a loose fist, and tips of your thumbs have to be captured by your pointing finger, in such a way that the thumb knuckle is bent, pointing toward your face.

You need to start massaging from the point at the eye socket, and gradually move alongside the nose, and then twist your hands, massaging up and down from the top to the bottom beside your nose. The technique needs to be repeated a couple of times. You can also rub the sides of your nose up and down with your fingers for a more relaxing effect.

Next use your thumbs to gently massage top of the eye socket, inside and out. Just apply a little pressure against the points of both eyes and then use your middle finger to touch the points on the bottom of the eyes.

  • Qigong Massage along the Head

For Qigong massage along the head, you need to place your fingertips of both hands on the top of your head. This should be done in a line parallel to an imaginary line running from the center of the forehead, over the top.
