Chinese Tui Na Massage
A body therapy, which has been used in China for more than three centuries, is Chinese Tui Na Massage. In China, the words Tui Na refer to ‘push-grasp’ or ‘poke-pinch’. Earlier, it was known as An Mo massage by Chinese. Besides, it is also called ‘acupuncture without needles’. It is a therapeutic approach based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).Initially, it was primarily used to treat paediatric diseases.
Origin of Chinese Tui Na Massage (Tui Na) dates back to the Shang Dynasty of China, around 1700 B.C.E. Initially, this massage therapy was used to cure diseases generally contracted by children and other digestive problems occurring in adults.
Chinese Tui Na (Tui Na) massage therapy became popular all throughout China so much so that it became a part of the Imperial Medical College as a separate department around 600 C.E. However, later it was suppressed by the Qing Dynasty only to be restored by the Communist revolution. Besides, other medical arts and Chinese cultural arts were also revived with this massage technique.
