Alexander Technique
The Alexander technique focuses on the movement performed by an individual. In other words it could be stated here that it is a technique that works towards the changing of the daily habits and activities. It includes our way of breathing, our movements, our way of learning, our way of reacting to situations and our way of responding to awareness.
It ensures the easy movement and enhances co-ordination, balance and support. It basically teaches the use of the right level of effort required for performing a certain kind of activity. Thus it enables an individual to understand himself/herself better.
F.M Alexander, who was a well known Shakespearian orator suffered from serious problems and this ultimately led to the losing of his voice. In order to find out the cause for his problem, he started to observe himself carefully in the mirror, while he spoke. He identified the fact that the cause was muscular tension. He discovered a solution for his problem.
