Soft Sheen Make Up

This matte skin and softly done lips work well in any weather. It is easier to apply and stays on longer. The matte skin is not dry but has a sheer translucence that hints at good skin. The cheeks are slightly flushed. Eyes are lined but not drawn.

Finally the eyes are pulled to a pretty pink or peach pout that’s not frosty, glossy or shiny. It’s matte yet creamy and not dry that emphasises a new softness of the look. It is a look that will suit every Indian girl, no matter what her complexion or skin tone is.

Face: Start by using a mattefying gel or a primer on your face that does away with the shine. Then use a mattefying or oil control liquid foundation.

Apply with a wet sponge and a light hand. Avoid layering foundation too much. Keep it sheer to simply hide the flaws. The use a loose powder to set the foundation. You can try a mineral foundation to soak up extra oil from your face.

Eyes: Use a neutral or beige shadow all over your eyelid. This will even out the skin tone. If you are fair you can avoid the shadow. Now take a smudge-proof eyeliner or a creamy kohl in a pot. Use a brush to draw a thick line on the upper lid.

Then take a kajal to draw on the lower lid as well. Take care not to extend beyond the corner of your eyes. In fact round out the liner just as you reach the out corner of your eyes. Take a cotton bud or Q-tip and gently smudge the lines.

Cheeks: The blush in this look is to enhance the complexion rather than to make the cheeks stand out. Take a pink or peach blush and dust on the apple of your cheeks. Go in a circular motion and end just below the eyes. Try a powder blush. Avoid picking a product with shimmer in it, since the aim is to get a matte finish.

Lips: Since a prominent pout is key to this look, start by moisturising and sloughing off dead skin from the lips. Then take a pink or violet liner and line your mouth. Stay on your natural lip line. Fill in your lips with the liner. Then take a creamy matte lipstick in the same colour as your lip liner and apply. Blot with a tissue and apply the lip colour again. If you find it shiny, then dab a little translucent powder over the lips to soften the shine.
