How to make lip balms at home?


Lips balms are very easy to make and thus makes great personalized gift items also. You can gift your own home made lip balms on Mother's day, Christmas day or at the birthday parties of children. To make lip balms at home you need wax, liquid oil, solid fats, essential oils. In liquid oils you can use olive, almond or any kind of vegetable oil. If you are wondering what are solid fats, they include coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, lanolin. Regarding essential oils you can use your favorite essential oils. However the most commonly used are lemon, tea tree, grape fruit and orange.

You also need some tools to make homemade lip balms like boiler, microwave safe measuring cup, non metallic spoon, jars or tubes for storing lip balms. Melt the wax first and heat with the combination of liquid oils and solid fats in double boiler. In the nest step add some essential oils and allow the mixture to cool. After the mixture has cooled a bit, pour the concentration either in tubes or lip balm jars with the help of pipette or funnel. You home made lip balm is ready for use.

How to make lip exfoliants at home?


Lip exfoliants helps your lips to keep it soft and smooth and stay away from the dryness. Exfoliants removes the layers of dead skin cells thereby making it look healthy. Like lip balm, you can also make lip exfoliants at home. The things or the ingredients you need are easily available at home. It includes one tablespoon full of petroleum jelly, new toothbrush, one tablespoonful of brown sugar and half teaspoon full of olive oil.

Mix the olive oil and petroleum jelly in a bowl. Add the brown sugar, until all the ingredients have mixed properly. With the help of tooth brush or index finger apply a small quantity of concentration on your lips. Rub the mixture in circular motion all over the lips even the corner ones also. Take a wet towel to remove the excess concentration from your lips. Massage a small quantity of lip balm enriched with SPF.
