Selecting the right kind of foundation from the wide array of foundations is the first step as far as make up is concerned. You can always look up the fashion magazines for this purpose. The foundation color that usually goes well with all kinds of skin tones is the natural color foundation.

However apart from natural color foundation, foundations are available in other shades of colors as well, which are pink, golden, yellow, peach and others as well. It is always best to go for a foundation color that matches your skin color.

Two forms of Foundation:


  • Cream form Foundation
  • Powder form Foundation

Types of Foundation:


  • Liquid Foundation: It is the most preferred one as it stays for a longer period of time.
  • Matte Foundation – It is the best as far as late night parties are concerned as it does not give a shiny look.
  • Sheer Foundation – It gives your skin a natural glow. It comes in a powdered form and thus is not sticky in nature. It is well suited for normal skin type.
  • Compact Foundation – It is easy and quick to apply and is available in a powder form.

Tips on Applying Foundation:


  • Always use a sponge to apply foundation as it gives the desired effect.
  • See to the fact that your foundation blends well specially in certain areas, such as the ear lobes, the hairline, eye areas as well as nose and mouth areas.
  • If in case, you need to apply foundation for a second time on a particular area of your face, and then make sure that you apply less, so that you do not overdo it. Then apply translucent powder, so that it blends well with your skin color.
Note: To test the foundation color, always apply it on your jaw line.
