How To Straighten Hair Without Heat
You think straight hair is in fashion. Or perhaps you are tired of the frizzy or wavy look that your hair gives you. You want a change. Straight hair not only looks stylish and pretty, but also is very convenient as it is less prone to tangles.
But to get that look if you use a lot of heat and chemicals, you are actually ruining your hair in the long run. Over the time you are inviting dry hair that have split ends and not attractive in any way.
First and foremost remember styles go in and out of fashion – but the beauty of healthy bouncy hair is a fashion statement that would always be in vogue. So style your hair, but don’t compromise on the health of your hair. So here are a few tips for you on how to straighten hair without heat –
- Brush wet hair well till they are dry
After you wash your hair, let it air dry completely, but don’t let it rest on its own too long – as it dries, continue to brush it every few minutes. Pull out your strands and hold each section of hair straight for a few seconds. You may also try doing this in front of a fan, which is faster, but in that case it would require constant brushing. But all these efforts would straighten your hair naturally.
- Wrap you wet hair snug
After you wash your hair, while your hair is still wet, comb it and divide it into two parts from the center. Now comb the left portion and take it all the way over to the right and secure the strands to the back of your head using hair pins. Now comb the right section and take it over the left side, and repeat the process. You can wrap a silk scarf over your hair at this point, or any other scarf that is handy. Keep overnight. You shall enjoy a straighter hair in the morning.
- Roll hair
Using large hair rollers roll sections of you damp or wet hair and pin the locks tightly against your head. Remember, that for the purpose, you need to use really big rollers, like say ones that are sized like that of the soda cans. Now leave your hair this way till it dries completely. This would considerably straighten your hair as long as you can make sure there is no moisture or wetness in the hair for otherwise curls may return.
- Leave on hair bands overnight
Spray your hair damp and then tie your hair into one or two low ponytails. Secure with a soft hair band; then keep adding additional bands along the length of your hair every inch or so to hold the sections together. Make sure that the bands are fairly loose so as not to leave a noticeable mark on your hair. Sleep on it. In the morning open the bands carefully and brush your hair. You shall notice that your hair has turned comparatively much straighter.
- Turn your hair into a bun
This is meant for people who have comparatively straighter hair naturally. When your air is damp tie it into a low ponytail. Now wrap the length of your hair around that ponytail and secure it with a clip, pin or band. In this condition allow your hair to dry completely. Now open the hair and comb the lengths well. This would not work for people with very curly or wavy locks.
- Make a natural straightening mask
Straightening masks would not only aid you to straighten your locks naturally but would also nourish them thereby making them healthy and more beautiful.
o Take 1 cup of whole milk or coconut milk and add to it 1 tbsp of honey. Mix well. Apply to your hair. Let it sit for about an hour and then shampoo and condition your hair the way you do on a regular basis.
o Take 2 cups of whole milk and add to it 1 beaten egg. Mix well. Apply to your hair. Let it sit for about fifteen minutes. Squeeze out the excess pack. Now wrap your hair with a shower cap and leave on for about half an hour; and then shampoo and condition your hair the way you do on a regular basis.
o Take 1 cup of coconut milk. Add to it about five tablespoon of lemon juice, two tablespoon of olive oil and three table spoons of corn starch. Heat this mixture slowly over simmering flame. Cool down the mixture and apply it to your hair. Let it sit for about an hour and then shampoo and condition your hair the way you do on a regular basis. It is recommended to use this twice a week regularly.
