  • Lemon Juice

Lemon has bleaching properties that can reduce dark spots and also make your skin soft and glowing. For that, you can apply lemon juice directly on the spots and leave on till dry and rinse well. For gentle exfoliation you may add enough organic honey and sugar to lemon juice and apply on affected areas. After a while gently rub in circular motions and then rinse well.

 

  • Buttermilk

The lactic acid content in the buttermilk helps to reduce blemishes without drying the skin. Use clean cotton balls to apply the buttermilk to the affected areas. Leave on for a few minutes then rinse well. You may even add a little amount of lemon juice to the buttermilk if you want. Or you may also make a pack of buttermilk mixed in with tomato juice. Apply and leave on till dry, and rinse well. Both the remedies should be applied twice daily regularly.

 

  • Castor Oil

You can also substitute Castor Oil with olive oil or coconut oil. Add contents of a Vitamin E capsule to an adequate amount of oil and apply twice daily to the affected areas regularly, once in the morning, and once at bedtime.

 

  • Apple Cider Vinegar

Make a solution of equal quantity of apple cider vinegar with water and add some pure organic honey to it. Apply this on the affected spots. You can apply the apple cider vinegar directly too, but it may feel stingy. Leave for a couple of minutes, and then wash well. You could also add about a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to about two tablespoons of orange juice and apply on the spots. Leave till it dries completely and naturally. Then wash off well with cold water.

 

  • Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is endowed with healing properties and can help to regenerate skin. As such it can help to reduce dark spots, especially ones that are caused by exposure to sun. if you can get hold of fresh Aloe Vera gel, rub it on the spots and leave for about half an hour, then wash the area with cold water. This should be done twice daily diligently for about a month and you shall notice marked difference. If you cannot get hold of fresh Aloe Vera gel you can buy Aloe Vera juice for the purpose which is easily available in the stores.

 

  • Sandalwood

Sandalwood has natural anti aging and antiseptic properties and as such can be an effective tool to get rid of dark spots. Make a pack of sandalwood powder mixed with rose water, glycerin and lemon juice. Apply this pack on affected areas and allow it to dry naturally. Now rinse with cold water. Another pack can be made by mixing in sandalwood powder with orange juice, lemon juice and contents of two Vitamin E powder. Apply on affected area and leave on for about thirty minutes. Wash off with cold water. Take a few drops of sandalwood oil and add about a tablespoon of olive oil or almond oil to it. Massage it on the affected areas at bedtime and leave it on as you sleep at night.

 

  • Horseradish

Horseradish has very effective skin lightening properties. You can make a paste of horseradish and apply it directly on the affected areas, leave it on for about twenty minutes and then rinse. Or you may make a paste of about four inches of horseradish and mix it with about a cup of apple cider vinegar and let the concoction site for two weeks undisturbed in your fridge. After that strain the contents and using clean cotton balls apply the liquid to the affected parts about three to four times a day every day for at least a month.

 

  • Papaya

Ripened papaya contains alpha hydroxy acids which is beneficial for skin lightening and also adds a glow to the skin. Apply pulp of papaya on your skin and leave it on for about half an hour. Then rinse well with lukewarm water. This pack should be applied twice daily regularly.

 

  • Yogurt

Yogurt is known for its bleaching properties. You can apply yogurt directly on the areas that have been affected and leave on for a while, and then wash off well with cold water. Or you may leave the yogurt overnight too and wash off in the morning. You may also make a pack by mixing together yogurt, lemon juice and coarsely ground oats and apply to the affected area and leave for about fifteen minutes. Then rub the pack gently in circular motion and rinse well. This pack can be applied about thrice weekly.

 

  • Onion

Although some people do not prefer any treatment involving onion due to its pungent smell, onion can be effective in lightening dark spots on skin. Take slices of onions and rub on the affected areas well for about three times a day. Or else, you could extract juice of onion mix it with organic pure honey and apply on the affected areas. Leave on for about 15 minutes, and then wash off with lukewarm water.
