Head lice in Children
Head lice in children is a common problem and you must be looking for an effective treatment for that. Head lice is a common problem among children aged 4 to 11 years as children of this age have the habit of sharing their things . Find out some useful remedies which can do away this problem.
Remedies for Head lice and their eggs:
You can find out if your child has head lice by brushing their hair gently with head lice brush. It is a good idea to use this brush every week.
Use anti lice shampoos:
Use anti lice shampoos like Nix, mediker or Rid to wash your child’s hair. Apply these anti lice shampoos on wet hair and leave it for at least 10 minutes before you rinse it off. Ovide (malathion) is the other effective anti lice shampoo. Use Ovide on clean and dry hair. Wrap your head with a shower cap and leave it for a night. It is recommended not to use anti lice shampoos on infants.
Removing nits:
To make your children's hair free from lice you have to first remove all the nits. For this, use a toothed metal comb to comb your child’s hair gently .
Other Alternative Therapies:
There are some anti lice therapies that you can try. For instance, you can apply fat mayonnaise, dippity-do brand styling gel and olive oil on your child's hair and leave it overnight. Some doctors also use oral therapies like antibiotic Bactrim and drug ivermetim to treat lice problems.
Herbal remedies:
Make a fine paste of Neem leaves and apply it on your child’s hair twice a week You can also apply a paste of Basil leaves mixed with margosa leaf to remove head lice.
Other Remedies:
Make a fine mixture by adding egg yolk, vinegar and lemon juice and apply it on your child’s scalp to remove lice. You can also use vinegar , lemon juice and garlic paste to make your child's hair free from head lice and nits.
