| Silky, manageable hair is what all of us dream of and only a few possess. But believe me all it takes is a little bit of regular care to keep your hair soft, lustrous and beautiful. That is why daily hair care is so important. We hear about fitness routines but what about our daily hair care routine?

By following some simple procedures, you can be proud of having a healthy, shiny, and strong hair.
The first step to healthy, lustrous hair is a healthy lifestyle. Get enough sleep, learn to relax, and practice a combination of Yoga and Pilates as a part of your fitness regimen. Drink 10-12 glasses of water, and eat a balanced low-oil diet. Include lots of fresh fruits, fruit juices, nuts and dry fruits, and green leafy vegetables in your daily diet. Avoid tobacco, alcohol and junk foods as much as possible.
Apply hair packs once in 15 days and alternate it with hot oil therapy. Use very mild shampoos for your hair. You can also try natural shampoos. Use a shampoo that suits your hair type-your hair may be oily, dry, normal or damaged. Colored hair needs a different type of care.
- If you have dry hair, you need a gentle natural shampoo, enriched with green tea extracts that makes the hair strong and shiny. You need to use a deep conditioner for dry hair.
- If you have oily hair, you need to wash it regularly to get rid of the excess oil. This is done best by a shampoo that has extracts of rosemary and pansy as its ingredients. Vitamin A and E are also essential nutrients required for this type of hair.
- If you have normal hair, use a shampoo that is mild and condition your hair at regular intervals.
- There are special shampoos and conditioners that are available for colored hair. You may use these products if you have dyed your hair.
Daily Hair Care for all hair types-
- Massage your scalp every day. This will improve the blood circulation at the roots and keeps the hair healthy. Use your finger tips and not your nails, for the scalp massage.
- Avoid exposure to sunlight. Use an umbrella or a cap or a scarf or a hat-anything that will prevent exposure to direct sunlight.
- Brush you hair with a round tipped brush, twice a day. Ideal way of brushing is start at the nape of the neck and move upwards towards the crown, repeat this stroke at least 3 times, and then brush your hair the normal way. This improves blood circulation in the scalp.
- Comb your hair with a wide toothed comb. This helps to control hair breakage.
- After washing your hair, comb your hair when it is still wet. Gently untangle the tangled ends. This also helps to control hair breakage.
- Hold the hair dryer about a foot away from your hair. Make minimal use of hair dryers.
- Do not apply oil on your hair and go out. This causes dust particles to stick to your hair and makes it dirty.
- If you notice excessive hair loss, do not hesitate to consult your doctor or a trichologist.
- Use hair care products from major brands like L'Oreal, Clinique, Dove, Himalaya, and Johnson & Johnson. Johnson & Johnson baby shampoos and baby oils are really mild. If you need to shampoo your hair very frequently, baby hair care products can be a good choice.
