Marie Claire is a pretty well known magazine for women published in every month in different languages and from different countries. It is a magazine that guides, assists, teaches and provides readers the information on a range of topics including health, beauty and fashion. Though initially conceived in France, Marie Claire managed to get immediate popularity since its inception and hence further spread to a number of other countries where it also managed to keep its popularity intact. Not only it gets published from different countries, the issues of each country have their own special voices to communicate with their readers. Each issue from different countries uses its own language where the culture of the respective country gets reflected. The US edition of Marie Claire magazine puts their main focus on women around the world.

The History of Marie Claire Magazine

The history of Marie Claire Magazine dates back to 1937 when Jean Prouvost published the first issue in France. Initially it was a weekly women’s magazine that used to get published on every Wednesday. The magazine got immediate success as the French readers started rushing into the newsstands every Wednesday to have a copy of it. The magazine continued its dream run until 1942 when the German occupation authorities in France stopped the distribution of Marie Claire along with many other magazines. After a break of few years, the magazine was started redistributing, but once in every month.

It was the year 1976 when Évelyne, the daughter of Prouvost, took over the magazine after her father’s retirement and added L’Oréal Group into their organization. It was a brilliant move taken by Évelyne which, in turn, took the magazine into the next level. In the later years, Marie Claire expanded its shpere and started moving to other countries. Various editions of Marie Claire magazine started coming up in different countries. In 1994, the US edition of Mari Claire came up from the Hearst Corportation. In 2006, Marie Claire traveled to UK and became a part of IPC Media. Similarly, Marie Claire also went to Australia and became a part of Pacific Magazines.
