Rosemount Australian Fashion Week

The year 2006 saw the foray of the Asia Pacific region into the world of fashion as the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW) was organized at Sydney, the center for fashion, creativity, and entertainment in this part of the world. The event showcased the finest spring-summer collections and designer wears of Australia and the Asia Pacific, before the rest of the fashion world. The occasion was attended by domestic and international buyers, and media and press representatives from all over the world with great interest.

About Rosemount Australian Fashion Week

The Rosemount Australian Fashion Week was made possible with the collective efforts of various bodies. These consisted of the RAFW Advisory Board that constituted the best brains from the fashion industry, retail, media, and organizers of other fashion weeks. The efforts were supported wholeheartedly by the Government of New South Wales (NSW) and offered a sum of $1.25 million towards the event over five years (from 2006 to 2010).

Last but not the least, the grand event was made possible by IMG Fashion, which is a branch of the international sports, entertainment and media giant IMG. It is a premier international event management firm that organizes, produces and manages the biggest fashion weeks and designer fashion events of the likes of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York*, Los Angeles, Berlin, and Miami; Fashion Fringe in London, EcoStyle in Kuala Lumpur, Lakme India Fashion Week (LIFW) in Mumbai, MasterCard Luxury Week in Hong Kong, and of course, RAFW in Sydney.

The success of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RA Fashion Week) has accelerated the progress and popularity of the Australian fashion industry tremendously. IMG Fashion Asia Pacific is assisted by the Advisory Board of RAFW on the schedules for the seasonal collections, and promotes upcoming designers to participate in the event as representatives of the fashion industry of Australia. Their collections are exhibited at on-site and off-site locations like Overseas Passenger Terminal - Circular Quay and the official five-star hotel, The Westin Sydney, respectively. These venues are well within the reach of the buyers, and the fashionistas.

Collections at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week

RAFW has displayed collections of over 100 designers in the course of 5 days. These include the names of Lisa Ho, Piper Lane, Nicola Finetti, Zimmerman, Charlie Brown, Allanah Hill, Alex Perry, and Alex Zabotto-Bentley. The main collections showcased at the Australian Fashion Week are:

• Boutique showrooms
• Fashion design studio and
• Those of RAFW agent designers

The fashion items displayed range from denim wear, evening wear, footwear, hats, intimate apparel, jewelry, leather goods, millinery, sleepwear, swimwear, and clothing for adults as well as for children. The occasion is attended by international buyers from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, Spain, New Zealand, Sweden, China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
