More about Paris Fashion Week
Paris Fashion has always been one of the keen interests of the world. Fashion magazines like Vogue were initially packed with French designs. The fashion events held every year at Paris Fashion Week showcase collections that can be grouped into the following categories:
Ready-to-wear or Prêt-à-porter – these refer to the finished designs and ready-to-wear lines brought by the fashion houses or fashion designers that are either a result of mass-production or industrial manufacture or even some limited exclusive designs for a selected group of buyers.
Haute Couture – the term in French refers to "high sewing" that signifies limited custom-fitted trends. Traditionally, the term had restricted usage by fashion houses, which can fulfill certain standards that are well-defined. However in modern times, it loosely describes all high-fashion custom-fitted outfits.
Men's Fashion – it revolves around the various collections for men for occasions as diverse as formals, office-wears, wedding collection, and casuals.
The entire event is organized and monitored by The French Federation, which was set up in 1973. The designers and creators working under the federation carry out advanced sewing techniques to bring out the chic and stylish cuts, and smart accessories that French fashion designs are associated with.
Some of the famous Parisian couture houses are Chanel and Christian Dior, who conduct their special fashion shows in their salons. Other designers also take part in these biannual events and display their collections.
