Fashion and Design Festival Toronto – A different experience

Organized by Sensation Mode--the first version of the Fashion and Design Festival – Toronto held in 1999 at Yonge-Dundas Square in the Canadian Capital, was a huge success. Fashion and Design Festival also showcased the latest collections of leading designers of Canada as well as of some celebrated international labels. The three-day event included live draping demonstrations, street-wear and lingerie shows from Canada's oldest and largest retailer - The Bay, and various designer labels from Quebec and the US. Advanced staging and electrifying performances by DJs and bands further made the event worth remembering for the Torontonians.

The people who benefited the most from Fashion and Design Festival of Toronto were the upcoming designers like David Dixon, House of Spy, Juma, and Tevrow & Chase. Through live draping demonstrations, they showed the crowd what can be done with a dress form, fabric, scissors and a box of pins in real time. Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI) presented a journey down the catwalk, and showcased the efforts of its alumni that included the likes of Desperately Different, Quelques Filles, and Revolve.

With the growing popularity all over the world, Fashion and Design Festival Toronto promises to bring well-known Canadian designers as well as designers from parts of the world who would reveal their latest collections. The list also includes prominent retailers like The Bay, and major international fashion houses like Tommy Hilfiger, Esprit, French Connection, Foxy Jeans, Le Château Liz Claiborne, RW & Co, Guess, Roots, and MEXX.
