Ed Hardy

Born in the year 1945, Don Hardy aspired to become a tattoo artist since his early childhood. While receiving a B.F.A. Degree in printmaking, he simultaneously underwent a course in tattooing. He pioneered the art and emphasized on the different mediums of its use. Under the guidance of his tattoo master, he developed the various techniques and revolutionized the art. After convening a number of exhibitions displaying his works, he had his achievements documented in books, periodicals and journals. It was in the year 2004 that his works, 'ED Hardy', was featured as a major fashion line. Subsequently, Ed Hardy went international.

Apart from the art of tattooing, other art forms are also offered by Ed Hardy such as printmaking, painting and drawing. Hardy offered a completely new form of art in his works featuring a blend of low culture and high art aesthetics. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by the art institute of San Francisco in the year 2000. The Ed Hardy clothing line is licensed to Christian Audigier. Ed Hardy stores are located in various parts of the world such as New York, Kuwait, Los Angeles, Dubai, Waikiki, Dallas, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Miami, Tucson, Houston, Sydney and Noosa. Shops were opened in Mumbai and Delhi too.
