Aki Narula

Aki Narula is a well-known name in the world of fashion and haute couture. His passion for design and his creativity were noticeable since childhood. Later, while pursuing this degree in commerce in St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, he designed costumes for college plays and concerts and even designed shirts for his friends.

The first recognition of his creativity came in the form of an award from Damania Airlines, in 1994. The Khazana store in the prestigious Taj Bengal hotel asked him to design a line of mens' kurta pajama the first collection of which actually sold out in only 2 days! After that there was no looking back.

Aki Narula's first fashion show was held at the Opera House in Mumbai with ‘Melange'. His designer labels ‘Aki' and ‘Aki Narula for SDS' occupy an important position in haute couture stores across the world. His style is inimitable and often borders on the ludicrous. His clothes bring out a sense of fun, cheer and laughter.

Aki Narula's designs are remarkable for their extreme simplicity and their emphasis on leisure. Aki lays more stress on the texture than trappings.

Aki is currently working as the dress designer for Sheetal Design Studio. He designs both wester and well as Indian wear and his ‘AKI' couture line which he showcased at Mohabbat for Sheetal was lauded and praised highly. He is also associated with the film industry and has worked as the dress designer for films like Kyun ho gaya na, Tashan, Bluffmaster, Don, and Garam Masala,

Today Aki Narula is a well know fashion designer and his designer labels are sold from high end outlets like 1 M.G. Road, You Grasshopper, St. Tropex, Ensemble, Zingra and SDS.

Recently, Aki has also ventured in to designing candle stands and linen.

Tommy Hilfiger:

This is one brand which has marked a name for itself on the fashion globe. Revenue close to 2 million, Tommy Hilfiger designs boasts of men, women and children wear. Perfumes and accessories are also quite popular under this brand.

Rohit Bal:

A blend of imagination, fantasy and ancient traditions-the Rohit Bal creations always stand out in the crowd of designers. His contributions to the fashion industry cannot be marked and summed that easily. It's is only the 'Whose who' of the people who adorn the Rohit Bal creation.
