Miss India

To win the crown of Miss India is a dream that is nurtured by many young women of the country. Organized by “Femina,” a women's magazine, the event today has gained global recognition. It is your ticket to winning other international titles like, “Miss World” and “Miss Universe.”

About Miss India

The Femina Miss India contest was started in the year 1963, and for nearly four decades the contest has portrayed the image of the quintessential Indian woman. Her modern integrity, intelligence blending with the traditional respect that she has for her elders. The winners of the contest represent India in various international pageants like Miss World and Miss Universe.

The first participant for Miss Universe (1952) was Indrani Rehman. It was Fleur Ezekiel, who represented India in the Miss World contest for the first time in 1959. Back then only one winner was chosen, however, the Femina Miss India pageant changed the rules. The first runner – up was sent to the Miss World contest and the winner was sent to the Miss Universe contest. In 2007, the rules were changed and the runner – up was sent to the Miss Universe contest, while the winner was sent to the Miss World contest. The second runner – up was sent to international pageants like “Miss Asia Pacific” or “Miss Earth.” Currently, however the second runner – up is sent to the “Miss Earth” contest only.
