Miss Europe

Beauty pageants have become so common these days that a pretty face on your television screen hardly matters now. Regardless, whether you like it or not, the beauty pageants are popular across the globe and will continue to be so in the years to come. Miss Europe is no different in this regard. It is a popular contest that involves participation from the various nations of the European continent.

About Miss Europe:

A popular beauty pageant among female contestants coming from various nations of the European continent, Miss Europe contest was established by Roger Zeiler and Claude Berr at the end of World War II. Roger Zeiler belonged to the French Committee of Elegance. They established “Comite International Pour L'election de Miss Europe” (International Committee for the election of Miss Europe). Miss Europe contest was first held in 1948 in Paris.

Most of the contestants of Miss Europe contest are respective national titleholders for Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Earth in their own nations. Sometimes, when these title holders of individual nations of Europe do not succeed in winning the international titles of Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Earth, they compete for the title of Miss Europe.

Elodie Gossuin of France is one such example who found a place in the Top 10 at Miss Universe 2001 and yet could not make it to the title. Yet in the following year 2002, she won the title of Miss Europe.
