Mr. World

If you love watching beauty pageants and like to keep a track of the happenings, surely, you must be aware of Miss World contest that has been staged for young women for so long. Thanks to such titles, many nations get immediate recognition, not forgetting the amazing fame and glory attached with the individuals, responsible for making their respective nations proud. Mr. World is a similar event that provides an international platform for recognizing the talent of young men world over. Though the contest was initially intended to be held annually, later on it was held with gaps in between the years. The contest took place about 5 times in the past 12 years. The contest is certainly not about showcasing just a “handsome face”. It hunts through several contenders to get the World’s most desirable man. Besides great looks, style, appeal, intellect and strength are some of the features considered by the judges.

History of Mr. World

When Miss World contest was introduced in the 1950s, a similar event for men was also thought of at the time. However the cultural ambiance was not conducive to such an idea at that point in time. Till 1994, no such effort was taken in terms of launching Mr. World contest across the globe. In 1994, Miss World Organization felt the time was right for initiating the platform of Mr. World. In 1996, Mr. World was held for the first time in Turkey amidst apprehension. The contest was appreciated world over and was a huge success. With ten years of success and glory, the contest is still going strong.

Mr. World-2007

The last Mr. World in 2007 was telecasted across the world with an estimated audience of more than one billion. Held over few weeks, the contestants were tested on several grounds including perseverance, strength, intellect, presence of mind and determination. It was hosted by Sanya, one of the spectacular locations of China. The men were judged on their style sense, performance and attitude as they modeled in menswear and sportswear.
