Some Tips on Avoiding Bad Breath

  • Regular brushing and flossing of your teeth is necessary to combat bad breath.
  • Infections in the respiratory passage and the mouth also contribute to bad breath. Consult a doctor for such problems.
  • Rinse your mouth with a good quality mouthwash that is approved by the American Dental Association.
  • Clean your tongue regularly with a tongue cleaner or a toothbrush.
  • Chewing gum and sugar free breath mints help in preventing bad breath.
  • Celery and cinnamon act as good mouth fresheners.
  • You can use rosewater to gargle and rinse your mouth.

Home Made Mouth Wash


Prepare your own home made mouth wash.
  • Add a few ground cinnamons, parsley, cloves and peppermint to three cups of hot, boiling water.
  • Keep for 10-12 minutes.
  • Strain the liquid and store in an air tight container.
  • Refrigerate the mouthwash.

Home Made Toothpaste

  • Blend together half a cup of arrowroot, two tablespoons of peppermint oil, three teaspoons of ground sage, one tablespoon of spearmint, half a cup of powdered orrisroot and half a cup of water.
  • Form a thick, smooth paste. Add more water if necessary.
  • Store the toothpaste in an air tight container at room temperature.
