Guerlaine Perfumes

Guerlain perfumes are among the most sought after fragrances in the world. The journey for this Parisian perfumery started way back in 1828. In 1853 they became the official perfumers of Napoleon Bonaparte. Guerlain has the distinction of creating in excess of 600 perfumes from then on. An overview of some of the premier perfumes by Guerlaine is mentioned below:

Mitsouko: This perfume, inspired by the Japanese woman protagonist in the celebrated book 'La Bataille', this perfume has top notes of bergamot and rose, heart notes of jasmine, spices and peach and base notes comprising oak moss and woody notes.

Shalimar: This was made in the 1920s, when oriental fashion was a craze in the continent. Named after the famed garden in Lahore created by Emperor Shah Jehan for his wife, this perfume continues to enjoy great popularity worldwide. Top notes are of bergamot, middle notes of iris and opopanax and base notes are of vanilla.
Samsara: The craze of the nineties continues to be one of the most popular perfumes from the house of Guerlain. The name means the universe (or the birth of the universe) in Sanskrit, the ancient language of India. Top notes comprise jasmine, ylang ylang; middle notes are made of jasmine, sandalwood and narcissus, while tonka, iris and vanilla form the base notes.

Champs Elysees: This perfume was introduced in 1996. Top notes are made of mimosa leaf, almond blossom and rose. Buddleia and Mimosa blossom form the heart notes while almond wood, hibiscus and hibiscus seeds form the base notes.

L'Instant de Guerlain and Insolence are two of the most popular latest Guerlaine fragrances. They made their appearances in 2003 and 2006 respectively.
