Spider Vein Treatment
Do you want to clear your skin of the ugly spider veins without resorting to invasive surgery? You can opt for spider vein treatment which involves the removal of the unsightly veins through laser treatment or sclerotherapy. These swollen veins are dark blue, flesh colored or blue in color and have a bulging appearance. They mostly appear on the legs, face, vagina or the area surrounding the anus.
Some of the common factors that lead to the formation of spider veins are pregnancy, weight gain, long hours of standing or the intake of certain medications. Spider veins might also be caused by hereditary factors. Spider veins can sometimes be painful.
Different Types of Spider Vein Treatment
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is considered to be the best treatment for spider veins. A liquid solution is injected into your veins with a minute needle into the spider veins. This causes the spider veins to contract and seal shut.
The treatment process may require fifteen minutes to one hour depending on the area to be treated. After the completion of the treatment, the skin is bounded with an elastic hose. You need to avoid hot baths, alcohol and exercise for a few days after the treatment.
Sclerotherapy might lead to the formation of red patches and skin sores. Bruises and brown lines that form after the treatment, usually disappear after a few days.
Laser Treatment
Spider veins might also be removed by laser treatment. Laser beams are directed to the areas with spider veins. The laser light causes the spider veins to coagulate and contract. Laser treatment is effective for removing medium sized and small spider veins. The spider veins will gradually fade over a period of two to six weeks. Spider veins that have formed on the face are better removed by laser therapy than by sclerotherapy.
Burns and scars might occur if the laser treatment is done improperly. Redness and discoloration might occur after the treatment. However, these will disappear after one or two months.
Spider vein treatment helps to clear the skin of the unsightly spider veins. You will no longer be compelled to hide your legs by wearing long skirts or slacks.
