Hair Tweezing
Hair tweezing is ideal for removing body hair in small sections. It is a very popular method for shaping eyebrows. Hair tweezers are also used to remove facial hair from the chin portion. You need to exercise extra caution while tweezing out unwanted hair from the skin. If done improperly, hair tweezing can result in the breakage of blood vessels surrounding the hair follicles.
Tips on Hair Tweezing
- Sterilize your tweezers before tweezing out hair.
- It is preferable to tweeze your hair right after a hot bath or shower.
- Stretch the skin with your fingers. Grip the hair with the tweezer just close to the root and pull in the direction of hair growth.
- Apply ice cubes over the area that has been tweezed to minimize the pain.
- If you have sensitive skin, press the area to be tweezed with a dampened cloth or soft tissue and then start off with the process.
- Pull out the hair in a smooth and quick motion. Do not yank or pull the hair harshly as it might lead to pain.
- Buy a good pair of hair tweezers that form a proper grip on the hair.
- Tweezers are available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. The most common are the round tipped tweezers, the slanted tipped tweezers and the square tipped tweezers.
- Just pull one hair at a time to minimize the pain.
- Brush the hair in the direction of the hair growth and then commence on the tweezing process.
- Do not remove nose hair with a pair of tweezers as it might lead to infection.
- You can use cold compresses or astringent to help close up the pores after the tweezing.
Hair Tweezing Risks
- Regular hair tweezing can lead to the growth of ingrown hairs.
- Tweezing can also lead to hyper pigmentation in certain skin types.
- If hair tweezing is not done properly, it can lead to scarring and pitting of the skin.
- You must be very careful when tweezing your eyebrows.
- Tweezing might also lead to coarseness of the hair.
