Facial Autograft Muscle Injection

Facial autograft muscle injection or FAMI is a non surgical cosmetic procedure that helps to reduce wrinkles and sagging skin. The fat cells of the recipient are injected into the facial muscles to plump up hollow and sunken facial features.

FAMI is a much preferred option for patients who want to avoid the 'done' look of facial cosmetic surgery. Facial autograft muscle injection is geared towards providing a much younger symmetrical appearance to the patient.

Process of FAMI or Facial Autograft Muscle Injection

FAMI involves the removal of fat from the lower part of the body by using micro liposuction or lipo harvesting. The larger fat cells are then from the stem cells, fibroblasts and small fat cells.

The processed fat cells are then developed into a consistency that is suitable for injections. The harvested fat is then injected into the facial muscles with special surgical instruments.

Bruising and swelling are some of the common after treatment results which last for up to a maximum of two weeks. Cold compresses may benefit the patients. The instructions of the physician are to be properly followed.

Risks of Facial Autograft Muscle Injection

FAMI or Facial autograft muscle injection involves minimal risks. FAMI is a non surgical procedure and therefore, no incisions are made into the facial skin which may lead to damage of nerve cells. Complications have been reported in minimal cases. Allergic reactions are rare as the injected fat of the recipient is used during the surgery.
