Eyelid Lift Surgery
Eyelid lift surgery are appropriate for patients who are suffering from drooping eyelids or have excessive skin or wrinkles on their upper eyelids. Eyelid lift surgery helps to enhance your eyes and rejuvenate your looks.
This surgical procedure can also be applied on the lower eyelids to reduce puffiness and eye bags. The incisions made on the eyelids are hidden from view in the creases of the upper eyelids.
Procedure of Eyelid Lift Surgery
An incision is made along the crease of the upper eyelid. Excessive skin and fat are removed from beneath the skin. The same procedure is involved in lower eyelid surgery. An incision is made under the eye and excessive fat and muscle are removed.
The eyelids are sutured. Eyelid lift surgery is done after the application of local anesthetic. It takes about one to three hours to complete the operation.
Ointment is applied to the eyes, after the completion of the surgery. The eyes are often bandaged off. The patient may need to keep his head elevated for a couple of days. Cold compresses are used to treat the swellings of the eye after the operation. Sutures are removed seven days after the surgery.
Risks of Eyelid Lift Surgery
Swelling, bruising and sticky eyes are some of the side effects of eyelid lift surgery. The eyes may also suffer from burning and itching and also from light sensitivity. These are however, temporal problems and can wear off after a few days. Some of the more complex problems involve infections, suture cysts, bleeding and double vision. Loss of vision may occur in rare cases. When confronted with these problems consult your doctor immediately.
