As the name suggests, Liposuction of the back is to remove excess fat from different areas of the back. Different areas of the back can be divided into sections called the infra scapular, posterior axillary, posterior waist, lumbo sacral and the buffalo hump. The specific procedure for removal of fat depends on the type of back fat and the extent of it.

The infra scapular fat or common known as female flanks is located above the waist and just below the shoulder blades. This is the fat which bulges out just under the bra strap. The posterior axillary fat is located on the upper outer back near the arm pit, below the shoulder. The posterior waist fat is located above and posterior to the hips and is commonly known as love handles. The lumbo-sacral fat is located in the mid line of the lower back, just above the tail bone and the buffalo hump consists of fat located on the upper back of the neck.

Techniques of Back Liposuction

Ultra sound assisted Lipoplasty
Also known as UAL, this is the most advanced form and is on the cutting edge of liposuction technology. In this technique, the fat cells are liquefied for easier removal with ultrasound waves emitted from a special cannula.

Microliposuction
A procedure that uses the minimum invasion, that uses a smaller cannula to from hard to target areas.

Tumescent technique
This is a procedure where in large quantities of anesthetic fluid are injected in the fatty areas. The fluid causes the fat t swell, thereby making it easier to remove through a cannula. This is a procedure that involves less strain and blood loss.

Super Wet technique
Similar to tumescent technique,, but the amount of fluid injected is much less.

Laser Assisted Liposuction
This is by far the most popular technique. This procedure uses laser beams to rupture the fat cells and then remove them through a cannula.

The Final Checklist
With the increasing demand and popularity for cosmetic surgeries, its best to look out for the authorized list of surgeons. Also make sure you do a comprehensive research yourself, keeping factors like costs, risks involved and other key areas in mind.

Certain surgeries require no down time, while others are complicated and require much attention of yours and your surgeon's. So chose the right doctor and ask him what suits you best, rather than just opting for a cosmetic therapy just for the sake of it.
