Oil is extracted from the leaves and twigs of Melaleuca alternifolio plant, by steam distillation process. The latter is a small tree that grows in New South Wales, Australia. The height of these trees are no more than 7 meters. Australia is the only producer of this oil. It has been used for various medicinal purposes in Australia for a long time.
