Pennyroyal Oil
Pennyroyal Oil is widely used in aromatherapy. It is extracted from the leaves of the Pennyroyal herb which has a strong spearmint fragrance. It is known to be an effective abortificant. It is also an effective insect repellant and can also be used to control fleas in pet dogs and cats. Pennyroyal herb is known to be very toxic in nature and ingestion of mild amounts of Pennyroyal has been known to cause death. The dried herb however is not fatal. The leaves and the flowers of the Pennyroyal plant is an effective digestive aid, a decongestant and a remedy for cough.
Pennyroyal oil is considered to be highly toxic and induces abortion in women. It can also cause damage to the lungs and the liver even if taken in small quantities.Pennyroyal Oil is extracted from the Pennyroyal plant by the process of steam distillation.
